The mission of FFE is to bring about a transformation in the lives of academically bright but economically underprivileged students in India by enabling them to complete their higher education in India. 

FFE has been awarding merit cum means scholarships to students pursuing professional degrees (BE/B.Tech & MBBS) in India. However, in recent times, there has been a growing recognition of the imperative to enhance and broaden access to legal education so that it is accessible to a broader spectrum of students, irrespective of their background or geographical location. Currently, talented students from lower socio-economic backgrounds struggle to pursue law because of financial constraints, limited access to mentors and role models, and poor access to suitable employment after graduation. Even those that overcome these barriers find it difficult to build a career in litigation. Bringing the life experiences of such students to the profession and the courtroom will broaden access to justice and strengthen the rule of law in India.

FFE’s law scholarship program was launched in FY 2019-20. The Law Scholarship Program aims to support students through merit cum means scholarships, renewable each year, until graduation with a scholarship amount of up to Rs. 50,000/student/year.

FFE’s support extends beyond financial assistance. FFE offers skills training for law students (soft skills) including English, career guidance webinars, and a robust Mentoring Program, where students are mentored one-on-one by experienced lawyers. These additional interventions are being offered to augment the financial program and is expected to prepare law students for their careers. The lasting impact of this program lies in the economic empowerment of individuals and their families within a single generation.
