Uplifting Bright Minds

of every donation goes toward a scholarship for a student

The Foundation for Excellence (FFE) was founded with a mission to provide college scholarships to students who, although financially constrained, showed great promise in the technological, engineering and medical fields, three of the most expensive higher education programs in India. Every single donor contribution is directed to the scholarships. Apart from FFE’s alumni, who support future scholars like themselves, donations come from all around the world from individual donors, corporations and foundations.

We’ve distributed over

$ 19.79

since our inception in 1994.

Meet Kousalya R

I am a 2012 FFE scholar from Shimoga, Karnataka. I was single-handedly brought up by my mother. Though she herself was never educated she was determined that I should go to school and study well. She worked in the fields every day to get me through school. When I scored 95% in my 12th, everyone suggested I persue Engineering and that is when I was introduced to an FFE facilitator Mr. Nagaraj.

There was no turning back from there. With financial help from FFE, I pursued my Engineering in one of the best colleges of Karnataka- R.V College of Engineering. I was then recruited to Buhler India Pvt Ltd, a Swiss Company through campus recruitment. I currently work at Mysore City Corporation as an Assistant Engineer.

I am also deeply passionate about social causes and actively take part in environment related activities.

I am elated to be part of FFE and its alumni activities. Interacting with alumni has greatly helped and allowed me to bloom as a person.

Meet Abhishek Jain C N

I come from Chamrajanagar district, Karnataka. While I was in grade 10, I lost my father due to a chronic illness. My mother was a teacher with a meager income. With the help of a few relatives, we managed our household and education expense.

When I joined UVCE I met Yuvaraj, who was an FFE scholar then, and through him I came to know about the FFE Scholarship program. I applied and since I met all the criteria I was awarded the scholarship. FFE came as a boon in my life – I could concentrate on my education as my college expenses were now taken care of.

In my fourth year, I was selected for FFE’s Mentorship Program. My mentor was a senior project manager at Intel. The 8 month journey with my mentor has made me a confident person, expanded my social network and groomed me on corporate work ethics. More importantly, it also helped me bag a job offer from giant IT software company, Infosys.

As an FFE student, I contributed towards FFE by participating in FFE events including marathons. Now, as an alumnus, I am contributing a small amount towards the foundation for the past two years and will be a mentor in the future. Today, when I look back, I consider FFE an important milestone in my life.

Meet Roshan Kolhe

I was brought up in a small village Tas of Wardha district in Maharashtra. My father is a farmer and my mother a home worker. Nobody in my family had studied beyond 12th standard.

I had worked very hard at school and after 12th I got admission into College of Engineering Pune through CET. It was difficult for my father to meet the college expenses, moreover, he had to support the education of 3 of my siblings also. This is when my physics professor Mr. Amrut Lonare introduced me to FFE and its application process.

It was difficult for me to get used to the lifestyle. I was overwhelmed when I visited COEP for my admission. We have faced many hurdles, and in a way, it has all been a good learning experience. I realized that the path ahead of me was not going to be easy and I needed to study hard with enthusiasm and passion for the next 4 years. Now when I look back, those 4 years have been one of the best periods of my life and have taught me incredible things.

Later in Sept 2011, I got placed in Symantec corporation through campus placements and joined Symantec on 2nd July 2012. Along with the job, I have completed my M.Tech from BITS Pilani (Dec 2014 to Nov 2016) through “Work Integrated Learning Program” (WILP).

Currently, I am working as Senior Software Engineer in Veritas Technologies India Pvt. Ltd, Baner Road, Baner Pune (Maharashtra).

I am very happy to be part of FFE family and want to help needy students like me.
