I was born in a very successful business family. My childhood days were spent in utmost comfort, there was scarcity of nothing; happy and glorious days. However, after my father’s sudden death in 2003, everything came to a standstill. Our enterprises degenerated overnight and nothing was left behind. I was in class 7 then and I vividly remember my mother’s struggle and sacrifices just for my sake.
I may not go into much detail about the same but it would be a blasphemy not to mention one special person, Sir Priyatosh Pandit. He was not just the former Principal of my School and my FFE Facilitator but also a towering personality and an academic who has played a crucial role shaping up thousands of young minds like myself. I firmly believe the above prologue was necessary to delineate FFE’s immense contribution in my life because I like many of my school mates, have been linked to the Foundation by Sir.
In 2009, I passed class 12 exams (CBSE) obtaining 95% marks. Month later, I also got selected at the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur to pursue Bachelor of Technology via the AIEEE exam. The NITs however have a high semester fee. The only constraint then between me and my dream of studying at this ‘Institute of National Importance’ was financial crisis. During my college years, I got selected as undergraduate summer research fellow at internationally acclaimed institutes/universities likeNational University of Singapore, Singapore, National Institute of Genetics, Japan and University of Windsor, Canada.
The episode culminated in 2013, when I passed B.Tech obtaining a First Class, Distinction grade from NIT Durgapur. Following my graduation, I was supposed to go to Munich, Germany, for Research Assistantship. Unfortunately, due to my mother’s sudden health deterioration, I had to cancel the trip and come back home instead to take care of her. Currently, I am awaiting my PhD application results. I take avid interest in research and envision a life in academia. None of the achievements mentioned above would have been possible without the constant financial support of Foundation for Excellence. My mother and I thank FFE from the bottom of our hearts for their invaluable help. Indeed they have been our true friends. “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” I also wish to congratulate the Foundation for their benevolence that has transformed generations across the country and pledge my never ending loyalty and service to it and its mission.
