I am Ramachandran Chidambaram, an alumnus of FFE. I hail from the city of Tiruchirappalli in Tamilnadu and my father Mr. R. Chidambaram was a selfemployed Hindi teacher.
I excelled in academics, winning scholarships to cover my tuition fees year after year at my secondary and higher secondary schools. I scored exceedingly well in the higher secondary public examination and the Tamilnadu common entrance test, and this gave me the opportunity to study Electrical and Electronics engineering at the prestigious National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. However, my father’s income was not sufficient to get me through four years of premier engineering education. That is when I was introduced to Mrs. Lakshmi Ramanathan and Mr. Ramanathan, both FFE facilitators for scholars from Tiruchirappalli. Through the efforts of these two great people and many others who are involved in the FFE network, and with the help of donations from the numerous kindhearted FFE donors, I completed my engineering education successfully.
I excelled in my engineering studies as well, and secured a job on campus with D. E. Shaw India Software Private Limited, a prestigious information technology company in the finance domain. I am currently enjoying a successful career with this firm, having worked here for almost 8 years. When I look back at my journey, I am moved by the fact that the success that I am enjoying today has been made possible by the efforts and donations of numerous people, some of whom I know and some whom I don’t even know. The only way I can ever thank all these people who have directly or indirectly contributed to what I am today, is by contributing to the development of brilliant and deserving students and keeping this cycle of giving constantly moving. The first scholar adopted by me completed his engineering education successfully last year, and I have adopted a second scholar this year. I am proud and happy to be a small cog in the wheel of giving that FFE is, and I hope more alumni will contribute to furthering the cause of this wonderful organization.
